Don't hate me cuz my basil is beautiful...

Got my first crop of basil. Yummy!

I've had lots of luck with basil last year and I used it often so I thought I'd get the hubby to plant me more this year. I'm looking forward to using it in all my cooking and baking.

I mentioned before that I have an indoor herb garden. I've got a great place right behind my kitchen sink, between 2 windows. The sun has been working it's magic already. I can't believe how quickly everything has grown.

I've already used some cilantro, oregano and I have mint slowly taking off. And the lettuce is pretty much ready to use too. I have more herbs and such outside but there are taking a bit longer to grow. Lucky gal I am :)

    It does look beautiful. We'll take any extra off your hands...

    I'm hoping to get our balcony garden going next weekend (now that it doesn't seem to be snowing any more.

    Hmmm basil...so delicious. I'm attempting my first crack at any planting this year, and I have a little basil plant in the making.

    I only have one basil plant going this year. Hubby has pared down a lot of his gardening since we had so much last year. I often joked he should have a weekly farmer's market on our driveway because we couldn't keep up.

    These are the only plants I can keep alive. It's because I see them everyday... that's the only reason they live... trust me. Many plants have died until I figured out a system that worked for me :)

    The hubby started seeding at the end of March. He uses tubes of fluorescent lighting above and a heating cord to help speed up the germination. His tomato plants are pretty big now, waiting for the weather to warm up so to be plant outside.

    Wow... they sure do look beautiful! All the herbs in fact! I have to get cracking with sowing myself!! I have all the seeds ready, just haven't found the time!

    I just read somewhere that basil is one of the hardest herbs to keep alive. Maybe I just tell myself that because mine is slowly shriveling... yours does look beautiful though.
