I'm sure you impacted many, many lives as they have impacted yours :) Makihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02552013681527347634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5236555828566281046.post-25641526817491582332013-03-07T12:16:50.218-07:002013-03-07T12:16:50.218-07:00Maki, as a teacher, you have hit me in my tender s...Maki, as a teacher, you have hit me in my tender spot. I have worked tirelessly for those without a voice - and abhor those parents who squeek and wine and don't walk their own talk. I loved their kids, though. That doesn't mean they got better or more care and attention from me because of their parents. It is those that lacked a loving home life that got more of my empathy. However, the squeeky parents took up valuable administration and after hour time and it is sad that they did not recognize that all children deserve the best and that their children are no more special than mine or yours. I love you children already. I am sure it is even tougher out there now. When I started teaching, bulling was nothing like it is today. I would have to have a very long coffee with you to describe the changes in parenting and in the education system over my 30 years. I loved my work. I loved my students. I never met ONE that did not want to succeed, or do their best. I met a LOT of parents that didn't want to take the time to do the right thing by their children or that didn't know how. Fortunately, there are still a significant number of parents like you... but, not like there used to be. It is so sad. AND - this kind of cake would be GREAT to come home to after a day dodging barbs one should never have to experience at all.
Ah! You have me, today. My heart aches for the little ones lost in that shuffle.
:)
ValerieA Canadian Foodiehttp://www.acanadianfoodie.comnoreply@blogger.com
